2017 Friends of Education Award Winners 
The Wausau School District, once again, kicked off American Education Week with its annual Friends of Education Awards Breakfast.  Awards were presented by Interim Superintendent, Mike Schwei and President of the Board of Education, Lance Trollop.  To view the program, click here.

For seven years of being a positive influence and showing unceasing dedication to volunteerism while running the Horace Mann book fair.


Doering
Jennifer Gabriel, *Rosalie Doering, Mike Schwei

For being an asset to the Grant Elementary School community through the PTO, volunteering in classrooms and for Blessings in a Backpack and serving as a Title I Representative.


Henry
Polly LaMontagne (accepting posthumous award for *Phyllis Henry), Lance Trollop

For many years of volunteer service in District libraries and being a valuable resource to not only students but staff as well.

For four years of volunteering in Wausau West’s Personal Financial Management Class and allowing Accounting IV students into his office to complete practicum assignments.

For years of volunteering in Thomas Jefferson’s 2nd grade classes, reading with individual students and helping teachers with anything they need.

For showing compassion to homeless students, leading the way to provide basic needs, including food, personal hygiene and clothing, for countless students living in poverty.

For being instrumental to the Wausau West Girl’s Basketball program through coaching and volunteerism.

Two Special Service Awards were given at the breakfast.  Special Service awards are presented to groups/businesses for continued outstanding service to our students and schools.

One Encore Award was presented at the breakfast.  Encore Awards are presented to retired Wausau School District employees who have returned to our schools to provide outstanding volunteer service.
