Guidelines for Investigation of Outbreaks at School

What supports are available for parents, students and staff?

We recognize the impact these surreal circumstances are having on all of us. We encourage our students to continue to find and create moments of familiarity and maintain other routines as much as possible, including communicating with friends, and staying active.

School social workers, psychologists, counselors, and nurses, have guidance on supports for supporting both students and staff through this stressful and uncertain time.

We know that given the closure of schools and other community agencies, some existing social-emotional and mental health supports will be disrupted. Here are resources that can help during these uncertain times.

The Nurses in the Wausau School District want to make sure you have the necessary information you need to ensure your child’s health and safety.

Health Assistants work under the direction and supervision of the school nurse. They: administer medications and treatments; provide first aid and illness care according to specific protocols; assist in management of chronic health conditions by following an Individualized Health Plan; assist in vision and hearing screenings; act as a liaison between the school and the nurse.
