Dawn Jameson Outstanding Educator ROC 2019

Congratulations to Dawn Jameson, Business & Informational Technology Teacher
at West High and Wausau Area Virtual Education (WAVE), who received the prestigious Resolution of Commendation from the Board of Education for being named the 2019 Outstanding Educator by Wisconsin Educators of Business & Information Technology (WEBIT).

In nominating Dawn, West principal Jeb Steckbauer and WAVE principal Jenny Seymour, said:

“Dawn teaches at both Wausau West and Wausau Area Virtual Education (WAVE). In both of these settings, Dawn has proven herself to be a dedicated, student-centered teacher who is continually looking for ways to develop as a professional and bring best practices into her classroom. Dawn’s stellar teaching and technology integration along with her commitment to the profession of teaching, and most importantly, the positive impact she has had on her students, were some of the reasons she was selected for this award. At Wausau West, Dawn consistently comes in early and stays late to remain current with the subject matter she teaches. She teaches dual credit courses and she develops strong relationships with our students. Many students have written or stopped in to share their gratitude with regard to the wonderful experiences Ms. Jameson provided for them. At WAVE, Dawn teaches a variety of courses, including Personal Finance, Entrepreneurship: Starting Your Own Business, Criminology, International Business, and others. In addition, Dawn took it upon herself to create the first virtual chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) in the state of Wisconsin. Dawn is recognized as a pioneer in bringing FBLA to the virtual landscape. We would like to thank Dawn for her commitment to students and for her desire
to create learning opportunities for them.”

Dawn's experiences as an entrepreneur add to her ability to share real-world learning with her students. Dawn and her husband, Jeff, have owned more than six businesses in the Wausau/Merrill area (bringing one of the first Subway restaurants to the state) and have employed
more than 125 individuals at any given time.

The mission of WEBIT is to promote lifelong learning and support educators in the advancement of business and information technology education.  A state network educators who link business and IT with the business community and promote Career and Technical education as a rewarding and important
