Our Mission . . . To advance student learning, achievement, and success.

Welcome to the Wausau School District!

Welcome to our Wausau School District community!  Here, our mission is clear: to advance student learning, achievement, and success. Our talented and dedicated staff, who are truly the backbone of our success, go above and beyond every day to ensure students are ready for life after high school.

As you walk through the halls of our amazing schools, each unique in its own right, you’ll witness the pride our employees take in their work.  With the help of our staff, we are committed to providing educational opportunities that meet the diverse learning needs of our students.  In addition to amazing traditional elementary, middle, and high schools, we offer other styles of learning to best meet the needs of students. They include Wausau Area Virtual Education, or WAVE, which is a fully virtual school, Wausau Area Montessori Charter School, which provides a quality Montessori education, Enrich, Excel, Achieve Learning Academy, or EEA, which offers a more personalized-style of learning, and brand new to our district, Red Granite Charter School!  Red Granite immerses students in Waldorf pedagogy – with a focus on the outdoors.  There is truly something in the Wausau School District for every student.

We also have exceptional programs and resources, like a state-of-the-art automotive lab at Wausau East, a school forest that spans 11 miles right along the shores of the Wisconsin River, a planetarium at Wausau West, and so much more!

Every day, we focus on providing exceptional educational opportunities that lead to remarkable achievements.

All of this is possible thanks to support from our community.  This strong partnership enhances our programs and resources, enriching the educational experience for every child.

We believe that every student can learn, achieve, and succeed.  We pride ourselves on meeting students where they are at and helping them thrive with exceptional supports along the way!   Whether it’s our staff, families, or strong community partners, we are all working together to create a safe environment, where every student thrives. Here at the Wausau School District, the future is always bright!
