Consolidation Board Meeting Updates
Work is currently underway to implement the following consolidation plan after the conclusion of the 2024-2025 school year:
- Hewitt-Texas Elementary closes and shifts to Riverview Elementary
- Hawthorn Hills Elementary closes and shifts to John Marshall and Franklin Elementaries (Hawthorn Hills’ 4K Academy shifts to Lincoln)
- Grant Elementary closes and shifts to Thomas Jefferson Elementary (Thomas Jefferson’s 4K Academy shifts to Lincoln Elementary)
- Lincoln Elementary closes and is repurposed into a 4K Academy. Grades K-5 at Lincoln will shift to G.D. Jones Elementary. (Jones’ 4K Academy shifts to Lincoln)
We know change can sometimes be hard, but as one of our Board members mentioned, it’s not the brick-and-mortar buildings we’re attached to, it’s the amazing people in them that make our schools so special; creating life-long memories. Next school year, our buildings will still be full of those amazing people with far more life-long memories to come! Please know, we’ll do this together. In the meantime, please keep an eye out for more information and updates here on this page as details become available.

Community Celebrations
A bittersweet farewell to Hawthorn Hills Elementary 💛
On June 3, 2025, hundreds of former students, staff, and families gathered for one last hoorah — celebrating decades of memories, milestones, and meaningful moments. One of the most amazing parts of the day? A former student from one of the school’s very first classes joined the building’s first principal to open a time capsule hidden behind the cornerstone — a beautiful reminder of how deeply this place has shaped generations. Inside of the time capsule, were letters, pictures, newspaper articles, and more.
Though the doors are closing due to consolidation, the spirit of Hawthorn Hills lives on in every life it touched. Thank you for the memories. 💫
Honoring Hewitt-Texas Elementary
Thank you to everyone who came out to give Hewitt-Texas the send-off it deserved. While the building may close its doors, the spirit, memories, and friendships forged within its walls will live on forever. ❤️
What an incredibly bittersweet day at Hewitt-Texas Elementary's Final Buzz Bash! 🐝
It was truly heartwarming to see hundreds of familiar faces, past and present, come together one last time on Friday, May 30, 2025, to honor a place that has held so many cherished memories for generations. The love and sense of community filling the air were palpable, a testament to the profound impact Hewitt-Texas has had on so many lives. And as if the day wasn't special enough, we had the most incredible surprise! After searching, a former student knew exactly where our time capsule was buried! Unearthing it was an emotional moment, a tangible link to the past.
As the 2024–2025 school year comes to a close, we honor the legacy of Lincoln Elementary—a place that has shaped generations of learners, leaders, and lifelong memories. ![]()
On April 17th, the Lincoln community came together one final time to walk the halls and share stories that span decades. It was a powerful moment of connection and remembrance, filled with gratitude and love.
Though the doors of Lincoln Elementary will close, its spirit will carry forward as the building is repurposed into our new 4K Academy—a place of beginnings.

Honoring Grant Elementary
Thank you, Grant Elementary, for 100+ years of love, learning, and legacy. You will live on in every life you’ve touched.
On Thursday, May 8, 2025, more than 600 hearts came together to say goodbye to a place that shaped generations — Grant Elementary School. As the final school bell draws near, we gathered not just to remember the building, but to celebrate the stories, the laughter, and the lifelong bonds formed within its walls.
Among us was a 104-year-old former student — one of Grant's oldest living alumni — who returned to walk its halls once more. From first steps into kindergarten to final steps out into the world, Grant has been a home for so many.
This wasn’t just a farewell. It was a tribute. A living, breathing reminder that schools are more than bricks and mortar — they’re memories, milestones, and moments that never leave us.
