Historic Thom Field

Thom Field, located at Stark and Tenth Streets, has been part of the Wausau School District for more than 70 years!  Dedicated on September 7, 1951, the field was originally named 'Wausau Schools Athletic Field.'  Public sentiment favorited the name 'Thom Field' for Walter H. Thom, chairman of the stadium dream, but modest-minded Mr. Thom would not permit the use of his name.  Nevertheless, the site has long since been referred to Wausau citizens as Thom Field in honor of the man who did the most to make the dream come true!

This historic photo shows the stands at Thom Field packed with students and event goers.

To this day Thom Field is still an integral part of the Wausau School District athletic experience!  For example, Wausau East and Wausau West football teams still play under the lights of historic Thom Field on Friday nights.  To find events held at Thom Field, please click on the calendars below.
